| B & G Cyclery | Purchasing a bike |
I purchased two Trek bicycles from B & G Cyclery and they beat any other competition by a mile with their price. Their service was friendly and they have an extremely knowledgeable staff that can handle anything you need. I highly recommend going here first before you try anywhere else. |

| Kozy's Cyclery Megastore | Megastore? |
Megastore? They don't even carry Shimano road shoes. What about Speedplay cleats? Sorry, no. They said they could order the cleats and have them in stock "in a couple of weeks". No thanks. I can order them online form home. Its not even a well stocked LBS, much less a megastore. Ha! Oh yeah, the prices are pretty high too. |

| Cycle Smithy | What happened? | Just returned from 8 months abroad and went down to visit my favorite shop. Disappointed to find that many of the familiar faces are gone, specifically my mechanic Jeremy. Some of the long time sales staff and the manager are also gone, all apparently driven away by the "bi-polar" owner of the shop, (Staff's words, not my own.) It's still my shop, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone right now. |

| The Wheel Thing | Low pressure | They sell used childrens bikes with low pressure. I told them what I wanted and they never tried to oversell me in fact they talked me out of a new fancy bike after hearing what it would be used for. |

| Sportif Importer Ltd | Bogus service |
My sister bought here bike here after a week she brought it back because of a noise in the rear wheel. Long story short she picked it up it had no noise a week after that the wheel locked up. I took it apart to find that the mechanic used some sort of glue instead of grease to get rid of the noise. They couldnt figure out that the bearings were bad UN-Believable!!! |

Good shop. I took my Trek in for repair, asked for a custom-fit freewheel gear (34 instead of 32) and got it within 24 hours and the big ran great after I got it out again. |

| Get A Grip Cycles | purchase/experience |
bought an expensive bike elsewhere (warm and ...) everything hurt after each ride. since i wasn't riding for years i thought it was my old body, just needing more work and it would be fine...as if! mentioned it to the manager of a shop in the 'burbs and he suggested i get a "fit" at get-a-grip. well, the bike was too small, seat was too low, bars were too far and my cleats were too far back in my poorly fit shoes (this warm and ...place didn't have a clue!) get a grip fixed my bike and things were better but i still had some problems. i wanted a Serotta and they recommended an Ottrott, but i lusted for a Meivici and took the plunge. WOW!!! but my point is that they were knowledgeable, helpful and actually buying the new wheels was my idea! they tried to talk me off the ledge. what a great shop! |

GO SOMEWHERE ELSE TO BUY A BIKE OR ANYTHING BIKE RELATED!!! I USED to drive by this bike shop and think that when my son was old enough this would be the perfect place to buy his first nice bike. NOT ANYMORE!! I went in to look for a bike for my husband. The person behind the counter (Mary) was bothered when I asked for her help. She reluctantly got up to assist me. I know nothing about bikes and had to practically beg to get information out of her. It was super frustrating! Later that evening I called to ask about a bike that I was interested in. Unfortunately Mary answered the phone - after a few questions she said, "Mam, this is not a $500.00 bike!” I was totally taken a back! She basically insinuated that because I was not spending a certain amount of money I was not allowed to ask any questions about it. This bike was to be a surprise for Father's Day for my husband who does not own a bike. Little did she know that if my husband ends up enjoying biking we would gladly spend the money to purchase a really nice bike for him. I can not believe with this many bad reviews and the economy the way it is this shop is able to stay open! Oh - I emailed the store to let them know about the bad experience I had and no one ever called me. This makes sense now because I am pretty sure the person that was so rude to me is also the women in the photograph on there website. |

| Irv's Bike Shop | Best Bike Shop | Stopped in there last week. It was busy, so i needed to wait my turn for a bit. Some other people were not as patient, which i always find to be annoying. We can't have everything right away, that's life. Anyway, the mechanic took a look at my bike and let me know what i needed to get my bike in shape and he honestly told me that it wasn't worth fixing it. I ended up buying a great single speed bike which they customized for me by adding new wheels. I really enjoyed the shop and the service. They have a bunch of stuff for all types of riders. Definitely my favorite shop; will spread the word. |

I haven't visited the bike shop but I saw an amazing display of custom bikes by the cruise club sponsored by International Bike Ship in a Puerto Rican festival/parade on Division/Western this past Saturday. It definitely made me want to visit the shop someday. |

| Iron Cycles | Awesome and cool | These guys are pretty damn cool. I went in a few weeks ago and Brandon helped me out. I came in just to check the place out and was greeted, not hassled, and hey I got to check the place out. There was no pressure at all to buy anything and Brandon noticed that I needed some minor adjustments on my bike so he went ahead and fixed a few things while we chatted. Pretty cool place. They have a little bit of everything and get a whole lot more if I need it, and I do! I will be back! |

| Iron Cycles | Nice Little Shop |
Just stopped in for a few tubes- a good excuse to check out the new shop a block from my condo. I do my own work, so my bike shop experiences are mostly just picking up parts. They have a nice selection of high end stuff in the shop, and they found the tubes I needed for my wife's '67 Monark Thunderbird cruiser in about 30 seconds. I also love that they emailed the receipt. Less paper is a good thing. |

| Geneva Cycle Shop | Its a Dump |
The man yelled at me over the phone when I was looking for a bike I had dropped off. I had thought I had dropped my bike off her, but in truth, dropped it off in Bicycle Heaven which is literally under the same roof. In all his shouting he failed to tell me that could have mistaken him for his store 20 ft. to the right. So not letting my lost bike go unnoticed, I drove up there. Upon arrival i realized my mistake and felt like an idiot. Than I remembered how he yelled at me when I asked for store hours. When I was up there I saw why he was so mad all the time, his shop was a DUMP!!! |

| Uptown Bikes | These buggers BUGGERED ME!!!!!! | I read the below comments and thought, "Hey, these closetted ponces sound hilarious" and intentionally flattened my bike tire just to see what kind of experience I'd have. I walked up to the store pushing my bike but the store was closed. I banged on the window for about 15 minutes before the police were called on me. I told the Oinkers that I was just trying to get my tire fixed when one of Chicago's finest called the # on the door and told me someone would be right with me. The cops stood with me for a few moments of uncomfortable silence when, without warning, the cops tazered me for kicks then drove off. A minivan of old Mexican/Puerto Rican/El Salvadoran/Whatever women came to a screeching to a halt right in front of the shop. I couldn't believe my eyes and was trying to fumble out some half Spanish explanation of my dilemma when one of the women, who I came to know as "Tia Diabla," grabbed me by my hair and pulled me into the minivan. The other Corpulent Mamasitas jumped on top of me so I couldn't get out, while the driver sped away with squealing tires. They held me hostage for a week, feeding me enchiladas while taking their turns strap-on loving me to the point where I started to feel like I was from Quebec. After they had their fun, they drove me back to the front of the shop and threw me out of the van while it was going 50 mph. Miraculously, my bike was stil out in front of the store and some Good Samaritan had fixed my tire for me. NO ONE FROM UPTOWN BIKES LIFTED A FINGER TO HELP ME. NOT EVEN A MIDDLE FINGER!!!!! Otherwise, I can't complain about the Salty Hispanic deflowering. |

| Get A Grip Cycles | Great Experience | Class act all around. I decided to move up from my road bike to a tri bike this year. Adam Kaplan helped me out & at no time did i feel pressure to "buy" anything. He took the time to educate me on my options, differences in bikes, components,etc..What a great experience. This is truly a full service shop becuase its all about the service & most importantly the customer.Buying a bike can be intimidating but Adam,Ken,etc..assure you that there are no dumb questions whether you are a new rider or very experienced & make sure that once you walk out the door with your bike they will continue the fantastic service. I recently sent 2 new female triathletes to Get a Grip, who felt pressured at other stores, but they both remarked how great Adam & the rest of the guys treated them. Thanks Get a Grip for your service, attitude, & help in making my new bike purchase a great experience. I will be back |
