Bike sale purchase nightmare - from: '' - Rating: 1/5 - 21-Sep-09
We bought two bikes from their season end sale. We put deposits on the bikes by phone (we live 260 miles away) two weeks ago. We assumed (wrongly) that we would get decent bikes when we went to pick them up on Sat. Sept 19. Wrong! First they could even find one of the bikes that they supposedly -reserved- for us. The other bike was in dismal shape, especially compared to the other 'reserved' bikes. We demanded that we get a different bike and got tired of waiting (they are VERY disorganized). The manager called another location which had more bikes available to 'pick' from. We did find two acceptable bikes there. However, we also had ordered an 'accessory package' which included several items including handlebar bags which were very handy. The bikes had to be shipped back to Millenium Park Bike and Roll again to have the mechanic 'tune' up the bikes. We patiently waited for this. When we got the bikes the handlebar bags were gone and to get them we were told that they would be an additional $25 EACH. We objected to this because their ad on the website includes these. They said this was is a mistake and would not give us the bags and said that the website should have been updated. I stated that's not my problem. I'm a webmaster and it takes about 30 seconds to fix this. They are falsely advertising these and the service and organization is abysmal. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SALE.

DIRTY! - from: '' - Rating: 2/5 - 03-Aug-09
I had a bad experience when I took my bike in they completely covered it in grease. There wasn't a spot not marked up with greasy fingerprints. This of course isn't a big deal if the bike has been broken in and all--but my bike was brand new. Everything else wiped off but the tape had to be completely replaced. After seeing the bike, my partner asked if I thought they did it out of malice, because the bike was so shiny and new..still not sure. It was beyond egregious. They did do decent work so I felt they didn't deserve a 1.
Although, they did do work not asked for or approved, which caused further problems--so the 2 is earned.

Repairs - from: '' - Rating: 5/5 - 08-Aug-08
Never had a problem with anyone there telling me, and being honest about what my bike need, and what I can live with or without... Cus face it sometime you don't have a lot of money to do everything you want, and they know this..

Not so friendly - from: '' - Rating: 2/5 - 02-Jun-08
I stopped by looking for a rental since my bike was being fixed. Folks at the front desk were rude and could have cared less if I was even standing there. I inquired about a couple parts hoping they might have some stuff lying around and the guy gave me a blank stare stating they only rent bikes and they have a small repair shop. I also asked if they knew of another place and they told me to try the phone book...Thanks, very helpful. I do hear the mechanic is pretty good, but you might wannt have your ppl up front be a little more friendly.

Great Service - from: '' - Rating: 5/5 - 23-Apr-07
So about three weeks ago I went to a near by cycle shop which turned out to be the biggest ripoff for what they charged me. They didn't do the work they said they did. I went by and told them they gave me that look that dogs give you when you scold them. Anyway today I went riding my bike along the lake and the problem occurred that was never fixed. On the way home I remember that Millennium park had a bike shop. I went by and found out that they were still open. So I went in and luckily the repair shop was still open. Chris was the person on duty and his customer service was anything less than awesome. He repaired by bike in less than ten minutes and he did it with one arm. Unlike the other place that took three days of nothing. If you are riding along the lake or in the city and your bike needs repairing take your bike to this place and ask for Chris. Imagine what he can do with two arms. Thank you very much for the help Chris!!!!!!!

really good service - from: '' - Rating: 5/5 - 24-Jun-06
This was the last place I expected to find a really good mechanic, but I happened to be riding past with a wheel that was absurdly out of true (I had been trying my hand at wheelbuilding - I will leave it to the professionals in the future. The mechanic there was very knowledgeable and interested in my 20+ year old bike. Encouraged me to restore rather than replace some worn out parts. Explained a great deal about wheelbuilding and truing. Patiently pointed out what I did wrong, and fixed the wheel for a price that was far better than I had recently paid for truing at another shop.

Great repair shop - from: '' - Rating: 4/5 - 15-Aug-05
I would have given it a 5, but as mentioned this isn't really a bike shop.

However, they do have a small selection of accessories at prices that are very reasonable.

And more importantly, they have the friendliest bike repair people around.

If you happen to be nearby and need a quick repair after the posted hours there's a very good chance that someone will be there to help you out.
