Good and bad experiences - from: '' - Rating: 3/5 - 29-May-10
I've purchased two bikes in the last 6 months from this shop. The first experience was great - staff took their time, was well-informed and made me believe they understood my needs. The second experience was very disappointing. Bike was sold to me with a defective saddle that no one caught upon delivery. When I called to get a replacement saddle, I was told "No problem - we'll take care of it." I took the bike in and the manager on duty wanted to swap the defective saddle with a used one from a prior year's bike! After expressing my dissatisfaction with that attempted bait-and-switch, the correct saddle was begrudgingly installed. This was very disappointing from what I thought was a reputable shop. If the economy is THAT tough, you probably shouldn't chince on your customer base.
So there it is - a good and bad review all in one.

Never again - from: 'Dan' - Rating: 1/5 - 23-Apr-10
Customer service is bad and price is too high. Was looking for a Track bike Felt TK2 saw it on their website for $1399. Went over there to check it out but they did not have it. Sale person said could order it within three days. Wanted to make sure the price was correct but when he checked his computer the price he quoted me was $ 1550 without the tax. Take a hike Village! Never again will I shop there or recommend this shop.

My spouse and I have purchased three bikes, tune-ups and parts from them and have reccomended this shop to our friends who have also purchased bikes from them.
I like this shop. They have a fantastic selection of bikes and equipment. What they do not have they will order. Reasonable prices. If your needs are urgent they will do what they can right away. I take my bike in for a tune-up during the winter so it is ready come spring.
Vince the owner runs a tight ship. Bryan the mechanic knows his stuff. Highly reccomend this shop - they care, are always helpful and ae good people.
Support your local bike shop, ride safe with a smile.

great service - from: '' - Rating: 5/5 - 14-Apr-08
i went here over the weekend during the spring sale and was met with curt, a real nice and knowledgeable guy who helped me get fit for a new road bike. he had be hit the bike path across the street for 15-20 min., which was really nice. louis then fit me on the bike trainer and found, after really attentive measurements, that a smaller frame would work best for me. by the end of it all, i had three great people working with me well past closing time. what a great experience, thanks.

Horrible customer service.
Had the store open during their 60% more sales floor expansion.
Unsafe and not courteous at all.
The person that seemed to be in charge that day neglected to inform customers that his floor was being refinished and when foot traffic approached he yelled at them that they ruined his $5000 dollar floor.
Both my fiancee and I are in the market for an Orbea Ordu and a Trek Equinox. His $5000 loss for footprints in cement or whatever just turned into $15000.
We will never set foot in that store again.
Definitely gives the local bike shops a bad name.

They havn't got me.... - from: '' - Rating: 2/5 - 06-Oct-07
I called to be sure that the 7200 bike advertised on their website was still in stock.
The woman on the phone told me that the price advertised on their own website was only a manufacturer suggested price and their store price is $ 30.00 higher. And she does not care what I see on the internet I should come to the store and pay their store price.
I felt that curtesy wasn't there. It probably left with intelligence.
I bought at the Village Cycle Center on Wells street in Chicago. Competent service and lower prices.

Thumbs up! - from: '' - Rating: 5/5 - 24-Aug-07
I frequented this shop when I lived in Arlington Heights (and much prefer this location to their second store on Rand). I bought my first road bike there--the entry level Trek 1000 WSD--and had a great experience w/knowledgeable and encouraging staff. I was nervous about riding such a light bike on such thin tires, but they talked to me on several occasions prior to buying the bike so that I felt comfortable with my investment. I'm still racing on this bike and now commuting with it, and haven't had any problems with it--it was definitely a good choice by the sales staff to point me to it, especially the WSD!
I continued to shop there until I moved to the city, but if I was ever riding at Busse Woods one of these weekends, I would definitely make it a point to stop in.

Expensive and Lame - from: '' - Rating: 2/5 - 06-Jul-07
I have been in repeatedly. Their prices are very high and not only that, after buying cables and other acessories, they charged me $5 for cable caps and crimps! Come on, any decent shop would have thrown them in for free.
Don't like the shop.

At last I've found it! - from: '' - Rating: 5/5 - 16-Oct-06
My sife and I have bought bikes & parts and had repairs done here for 15 years. Latest purchase was a 2006 Trek Pilot 2.1. After discussing the bike and various issues I had for about half an hour, I was allowed to take it out for a good long test ride on the bike trail across the street. I liked the bike, but I hate to pay list price for anything! They were asking $1399, so I asked them to include a bottle cage & a speedometer. Well, my expert salesman took my offer to the owner Vince, and he said they were going to start their closeout next week and to give me the sale price: $1239.51!!!! They spent another half hour fitting me with shoes and pedals, and instructing me on their trainer in the proper use of clipless pedals (my first set).
Two weeks after the sale, I dumped the bike when hitting a pothole. I took it in for repair, and they did it for free! While I was there, they also replaced a shoe cleat for me at no charge as well.
Make no mistake, Vince: these are the reasons I bought our past bikes here, and this is why my wife will get her next bike here. As well as all repairs, parts and accessories. Anyone can open a bike shop. This level of service is rare, and appreciated. Are you hiring?

Great Shop - from: '' - Rating: 5/5 - 30-Sep-06
I bought a Co-Motion touring bike there five years ago (they are the closest Co-Motion dealer to Chicago). I've been very happy with how they treat me and my bike, and they have a good selection of accessories. The guys always recognize me even though I only go there every year or two for a tune-up (I'd drop in more often if I lived closer). Also, Busse Woods across the street has a nice loop path to ride after getting service.

These guys have always been very fast for repairs. I had a flat fixed in 15 minutes from walking in the door to leaving.
