really? wow. - from: '' - Rating: 5/5 - 02-Mar-10
I have never been to this shop, but I'll be sure to stop by if I'm in the neighborhood after reading all the positive comments. I've worked in bike shops big and small, and I know how hard it is to provide friendly and fair service. It's good to know there are still down-to-earth shops like this.

excellent repairs - from: '' - Rating: 5/5 - 15-Dec-09
I've had all 3 of my bikes serviced here in the last year. The quality of service has been excellent. I even brought in my folding bike - had a quirky problem that required a special part and Paul went the extra mile to get that part. Now the bike is working perfectly again. Keep up the good work, guys!

This store been around for decades, different owners, but same good service. They repaired my Cannondale on a monents notice at a fair price. Good Service, Good Prices, and a Beverly Institution.

I grew up with Jim's bike shop - from: '' - no rating given - 03-Feb-09
I grew up just around the corner from Jim's Bike Shop - my house actually backed up to the parking lot for the Rainbow Ice Cream shop. I was all of eight years old (1960) and a group of us kids would wander in Jim's to check outh the nifty selection of Schwinn bikes. Jim was so good to us - he would let us look at the boxed model planes & cars, waiting to be assembled by some lucky child. No matter how busy Jim was, he always took the time to show an interest and lend an ear. Beverly was a great place back in those days - it's really great that Jim's is still around!!

Whenever I call or visit BB&S for anything, be it advice, parts, returns or repairs my expectations are always exceeded with the friendly, courteous and quality service. It's a fine neighborhood store from which I plan to purchase a bike and continue to support.
Thankx a bunch!

Jim's mechanics - from: 'Leon' - no rating given - 01-Aug-08
I was a Jim's customer back in the day. During the early 90s, they had some of the best mechanics around Ray, Johnny, Ian, and Scooter. I wonder what happened to those guys. Does anyone at the current shop know?

Perfect Fit - from: '' - Rating: 5/5 - 17-Jul-08
I love to mountain bike and when they first came out with them about 15 years they did not make them for short women. I am five feet tall and found the top frame bar quite a hazard - but not for Paul - he ordered me an extra small frame from Trek and I have been happy ever since! I would never consider anyone else for a tune up on my bike or even to purchase any equipment because I know I can't find better service anywhere! I think this place is so great I have bought tricycles for my nieces and nephews there and they always spruce them up with the works making me the coolest aunt ever! I am a forever customer.

sold my wife just an awful bike for dad/s day gift. Refused to improve on the fact that it cycled poorly. just a very bad experience

Paul is Awesome! He has always been helpful on helping me out with fundraisers for St. Catherine of Alexandria School in Oak Lawn, Il. Also has helped me out in different fundraiser's when needed. I do have to say What a great Guy! I have also bought several bikes for my children and all my siblings bikes came from that shop since the 1970's! I suggest going there since they are good, honest people! Good Luck Paul. I hope many of bikes are bought at your shop! Thanks for everything you have done for me!

Great Shop - from: '' - Rating: 5/5 - 30-Jun-07
I purchased a bike from Beverly Bike and Ski after having some problems with another local store.
I'm actually glad that I did have some problems because I would might rather give my business to Beverly.
They were knowledgeable, helpful, zero-pressure, and fair. Unlike the other store, the bike I wanted was in-stock and they did not charge me for "extras" like a water bottle and holder and kickstand.
Bottom line: fair, honest, informed. Great shop! I'll be back for bike service and more gear in the future!

These guys are great. I came in to buy a bike(my first new one in 12 years) and they send the time needed to find the perfect bike for me. I got to observe them work with other customers over the last week. Whether people were buying an inner tube or a high end bike, they all got the same friendly personal treatment. They know bikes and love biking themselves

Beverly Cycle - from: '' - Rating: 5/5 - 04-Aug-06
I'm posting now but this was a year ago. I brought a 1970's LeJeune in to have the crank removed because a shop in worth said it could not be done..or they just did not know how. Beverly cycle had it removed in seconds and did'nt even want to take money for doing it. We still settled for small change. These are the kind of shops you hope will always be around. So go there and look around buy a bike and ride it.

WONDERFUL bike shop - from: '' - Rating: 5/5 - 10-May-06
This is a terrific bike shop. It's not the biggest. And it doesn't have a massive selection of "stuff" (lights, helmets, etc). But they are absolutely top drawer for taking care of you and your bike.
A few years back I was having lots of trouble with my rear wheel, breaking spokes every month. They were able to fix me up with a tandem wheel that has performed excellently ever since, despite abuse like curb jumping and towing heavy trailers.
Beverly Bike and Ski carries a pretty good selection of bicycles considering the size of the shop. They have kids bikes, some recumbents, some fancy road bikes, and a decent selection of hybrids/mtn bikes. They are willing to work with you to solve any problems (I know they have fitted out some of their customers with special rigs to carry carpentry tools, for example).
Finally, it all comes down to well-trained mechanics who are friendly, helpful, and more than competant.
I'd choose this place ANY day over some of the competiton in the area (namely that excuse for a shop over on Kedzie and 104th).

Classic Schwinn shop - from: 'Stevem' - Rating: 4/5 - 29-Jul-05
These guys are pretty darn friendly, and what you would expect from one of the Old Schwinn Shop holdovers.
Decent selection of tools and did I mention these guys are cool.
